Alexander Goretskiy, the founder of the Goretskiy Jewellery brand, is a professional photographer, artist and gallerist. He has brought many creative projects to life in Russia, Ukraine and LA.

One of his many jobs was jewellery sketching, and over time Alexander’s fascination with this industry kept growing. So, at some point he felt the urge to not only paint but also create 3-dimensional objects. That was the exact moment when he started a new chapter is his career.

And his road to jewellery industry was long and quite winding. He almost didn’t have an experience in jewellery making, so he had to start from scratch and learn a lot to get necessary theoretical and practical knowledge. 

For many years, Alexander studied the literature and technologies, learned from  American jewellery experts and immersed himself into the history of precious stones and metals. Endless books, workshops, cooperations with diamond mining specialists, as well as hands-on experience in selling them, helped him to gain professionalism in jewellery industry.

Later on, Alexander continued his education in the Old World, guided by famous jewellers from Barcelona. He learned many secrets about working with gold and silver, but the equipment and technologies were not advanced enough to bring his ideas to life. So, to find out about modern ways to create jewellery, Alexander started attending all large-scale exhibitions, including Vicenza, Hong Kong, Basel and Las Vegas.

That’s why today the jewellery pieces in the Goretskiy Jewellery brand are created with the combination of traditional techniques and the newest technologies as the latest software, modern electroforming kits, lasers, and latest techniques for micro-cutting, polishing and soldering.

Alexander finds inspiration in everything that surrounds him: sports, music, cooking, love, politics, science… the life as it is. He works by a simple rule: when an idea is born, he puts it on paper immediately putting everything aside.

Pen, paper wax, play dough, beach sand - anything can be used to capture a newborn idea.  Over the years, Alexander has accumulated thousands of drafts representing the “breakthrough” moments and initial concepts – paper models, pencil sketches, wax sculptures, phone screenshots… 

“You retrieve ideas from this treasure chamber, one after another. Some are brought to life, shining brightly. Others stay dormant for years until their time comes. Several are destined to be abandoned forever. But the most curious thing is that, very often, the result is completely different from the initial idea…”

Over the time, jewellery making took over Goretskiy’s life completely, turning from the hobby to his main occupation. 

That’s how several complete collections and countless individual pieces were brought to life.

And recently the Goretskiy jewellery brand, available before only to modern art experts and collectors, has opened its doors to everyone interested in truly unique masterpieces.
